In collaboration with US head design office and Europe product manager, you will be responsible to bring fresh, innovative and relevant product for Europe market. You will be in charge for the conceptualization and design of the product developed by Europe office.
Job description:
Within our Merchandising & Design department, your main duties will include:
- Conceptualization of product ;
- Fabric selection ;
- 1st general drawing & final tech drawing ;
- Fit Direction & Maintenance ;
- Fabric design (pitches) & Approval ;
- Color approval ;
- Styling & Fit comments during development ;
- Creation & Maintenance of season’s product presentation pages ;
- Execution of trimming, Wash and Packaging.
Responsibilities:
The designer will be responsible for understanding & assisting in the merchandising of each category while staying in tune with the needs of Volcom’s market and customer base.
Your responsibilities will also include stay up on trends in and outside of our immediate market, stay up on the state of the action sports market and on the competition’s product.
You are willing to travel with the team to explore happenings in select regions/districts each season, in USA to work with US head office. You will also travel to attend select tradeshows and present lines during sales meeting.
Job requirements:
• Proven experience in a design department ;
• A Merchandising, Design, Graphic Arts degree or Bachelor’s degree is preferable and appreciated ;
• Strong understanding of the action sports lifestyle and our customers ;
• Ability to interpret forward fashion design and concept into a product that will work for our market;
• Ability to travel both domestically and internationally ;
• Willing to relocate internationally.
Competencies:
• Fluent English ;
• Proficiency in Mac OSX, Panther, Illustrator ;
• Strong knowledge in Photoshop, Word, Excel.
Your creativity, completed by communication and time management skills will be essential to success in this position.
