VOLCOM SNOW TEAM NEWS - NOVEMBER 2009 11/6/2009 |
 |
Gigi Ruf was first out of the gates with a garage full of editorial, ads,
and action on the Transworld Exposure Meter, as well as flooding the Absinthe movie with a years' worth of shredding for another banger part. After a
month in New Zealand chasing storms, he found himself back at home tending to his Austrian chores. A
recent California tour had Mr. Ruf and fellow team riders, Zac Marben, Seth Huot and Bryan Iguchi meet up with the local shop employees to check out the
new Volcom gear while sharing shred stories. Gigi already has one pow day under his belt this year and has
returned home to wax his Volcom boards for the season.

Mark Landvik used his secret Northwest location to recover from a heated summer.
Lando is chomping at the bit to ride and claims that the TDS gear he wore this past year was better than an
internal fireplace. He posted a heavy section in Standard Flims, "Black Winter" while riding zones in Canada
and AK that once again upped the ante.

Wille Yli-Luoma has just opened a coffee shop called Heart Roasters in Portland, Oregon
that is a must visit when you find yourself in the Rose City. Wille has refined his coffee knowledge over the
past 10 years and knows what it takes to make the best. Chris Owen and other coffee enthusiasts claim it's
the best cup of coffee they've had. Wille might also have had one of his best years, including 3 parts in 3
different movies! Wille will be based out of the Northwest again this season.
Bryan Iguchi recently became a dad. Congrats to the Iguchi family!
Click the links to check out all that has been happening with Guch and Mikey Parillo - the two have been blogging it up lately. Jamie Lynn has been in and out of the recording studio and up and
down the coast. He and his mates from Kandi Coded look to terrorize a mountain pub near you as
the second season of Volcom Stone's "Blizzard Bizarre" blows into a town near you.

Terje Haakonsen has officially resigned from wearing a contest jersey,
which leaves him plenty of time to focus on filming and photos. There are rumors of a Gigi collaboration,
trips planned to the Alps and the Pyrenees and a film project you'll be hearing more of soon. Swatch watch
company just did a 25-minute documentary about Terje in their “Catch the Moment” series.
Volcom's exclusive Thermal Defense System (TDS) creates maximum breathability and
insulation through strategic 3-layer construction. By identifying temperate zones within your body, this
garment works with you to achieve total thermal comfort. Lightweight packable thermal down panels create
heat and keep it in. Fleece backed 3-layer Gore-Tex® fabric regulates warmth, breathability, and air
circulation. Zippered venting is used to release heat for a quick cool down system. TDS allows you to take on
the most epic conditions all day long. It is yet another technical innovation brought to you by your friends at
Volcom.
Zac Marben opens “Nice Try” and Seth Huot shuts it down! WTF… that's right. The boys slaughtered this
years People movie! Nice work lads. Zac marinated in Minnesota for the summer and Seth wrenched in Salt
Lake. Look for both to rejoin the People crew again this coming winter. Also in the mix in “Nice Try” was Curtis Ciszek, who chucked both on and off snow all season. He'll be
based out of Bend again this year.

Iouri Podladtchikov aka iPod is on a roll. Whether he is rolling around
in his Porsche 911, winning the overall title at the 2009 Freestyle CH event, learning doublecorks in the pipe, or picking up one of the hottest girls ever, he does it all with
style... iPod is currently snowboarding in Saas Fee, and reporting to be happy, healthy and in love. Some
guys have all the luck!
Marc Swoboda has been blowing
up coverage-wise lately. His latest score being a centerfold pull out poster in Pleasure. He is training
relentlessly to recover from a late season injury, but we can count on Marc to bounce back hard. And he
also just earned himself the cover of Playboard Germany.

Markus Keller won the Wängl Tangl event in Austria, got a solid part
with the Pirates, and scored the cover of Onboard. Rumor has it that he is just about to get another cover as
well. Markus is also a serious contender for the Swiss Halfpipe team - good luck Markus!
Arthur Longo spent a month this
summer in NZ, and the day after he got back, in early September, he received a call from the French
National team to fly straight back down again. Oh, he also won the Arctic Challenge, got a video part with
the Pirates, a 10-page interview in Method Mag, and was rider of the year in
France. All of this gave our photo incentive budgets a serious beating.
