LYN-Z ADAMS HAWKINS MAKES SKATEBOARDING HISTORY
This past weekend in Paris, Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins attended the "Tony Hawk Show" at the historic Grand Palais. Tony himself was supposed to be the premiere showcase of the night, but not even Tony Hawk, who landed his 900, could take the spotlight away from one very talented young lady. Yes, a girl managed to one-up Tony Hawk at his own signature event. Thanks to Tony’s coaching over the past few years, Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins finally stomped a perfect 540 McTwist - making her the first female ever to achieve this.
"I've been spinning backside 540s for about 5 years now and spinning McTwists for about 3,” said Lyn-Z. “I've put countless hours into learning this trick and am ecstatic I finally made it, now I just have to get it on lock down! I don't think I could have picked a better setting to do it for the first time, the historic Grand Palais is just incredible and with a crowd of something like 7,000 people cheering for me with every spin over and over and over. Kelly Slater was on the deck telling me ‘You've got it! It looks perfect!' And Tony Hawk on the microphone at his own event rooting me on... How could I not land it? Not to name drop, but those two men are so inspirational and legendary!"
Whether it was the thousands of roaring fans, the lights or the fact that she was skating in the Grand Palais, history was made and the bar for women's skateboarding has well and truly risen!
Congratulations Lyn-Z!
