MICHAEL
SIEBEN

Check out the new Michael Sieben featured artist T-Shirt at http://vol.cm/PKI8RN

Michael lives in Austin, Texas with his wife Allison and their two cat friends Nathan and Josie. When he isn't working full time as the art director for Terrible One, or writing articles and working on illustrations for Thrasher, or trying to get Ed Templeton to print some of his stuff for the Toy Machine, or bugging the guys at Volcom about featured art shirts, or working at the art gallery (Camp Fig) he co-owns, he is most likely passed out on his couch halfway through a romantic comedy which probably stars Hugh Grant. Either that or skating the ditch down the street from his house. But most likely the passed out on the couch thing.

KID
CREATURE

Calvin Saxton is an 11 year old kid with a huge love for life. He is the youngest of 3 but is never lost in the lineup. His early childhood was hampered by severe allergies including a potentially deadly one with peanuts (which is with him for life). Calvin is also asthmatic. Over the last few years Cal has spent most of his time surfing. During some of his tougher times with asthma his mom would tell him not to surf. Made sense right? If you can't breath well, you probably want to stay clear of the water. Cal pleaded saying that he actually felt much better when he was surfing. I was sure it was a line of BS to get his way but it definitely was not, he literally never coughed or labored in the water.

Cal's exuberance & always up for a surf attitude has endeared him to some of the more prominent "older" groms in Newport. Eventually he started drawing art for them & then made them into t-shirts. They are pure, true & capture the essence of a kid with a huge imagination and a gift of expression. Cal has always had a big heart for kids who struggle for any reason. So when he heard about a group of kids that were recently surfing at the same surf camp he used to attend, he was intrigued. He would obviously have empathy for anyone who labors to breath but when he heard to what extent they fight for breath he wanted to make a difference. Cal donates a percent of the profit on all of his Kid Creature sales to help fight against cystic fibrosis. So when you purchase a KidCreature shirt you are helping the fight for breath that many kids are struggling with every day.
JOHN
BALDESSARI

A major figure in contemporary art, John Baldessari has been termed "one of the most influential artists to emerge since the mid-1960s." From his phototext canvases of the 1960s to his composite photo collages and installations of the 1980s, Baldessari has contributed to the definition of postmodern art. His ingenious application of certain art-making strategies - including appropriation, deconstruction, decontextualization, sequentiality and text/image juxtaposition - was prescient, as was his cogent and witty integration of semiology, linguistic systems and mass media.

For Spring 2011 Volcom presents three limited edition shirts by John Baldessari, available only in quantities of 500 each at shop.volcom.com and select Volcom stores (los angeles, new york, tokyo and london).

DENNIS
MCNETT

Dennis McNett was born in 1972 and grew up in Virginia Beach, VA. He moved to New York in 2001. He has been carving the hell out of surly block prints for over 17 years. All of his encouragement as a young kid came from his blind grandfather, who told him over and over again that his drawings were good. Later influences came from the raw high-energy graphics pouring out of the 80's skateboard and punk rock scene. He holds an MFA from Pratt Institute, where he now teaches as a printmaking professor at the graduate and undergraduate level. He wants to live until he dies. Breathing is good.
