THE SO-CAL SKATEPARK TRANNY CHECK GPS TOUR IS DONE
8/9/2008
The Volcom Skate Tour is already over and the whole Volcom team is driving back home. It was great to see all the kids come out to the different events. If you were lucky enough to experience part of the tour you'll understand how much fun this tour was for everyone involved.

Volcom wants to thanks everyone who made this first of a kind GPS Skate Tour happen; all the retailers and employees at the different skateparks, and everyone who came out to the different tour stops. Early next week we will some video clips of the whole tour on the Volcom website so check back in with us soon. Nice one!!!

SATURDAY - 6.27PM - SUN DIEGO DEMO AND SIGNING WAS AWESOME

The demo and signing at Sun Diego in National City was a huge success. The guys all skated for at least an hour before heading over to the new Sun Diego store for an autograph signing. Below are a few photos from the demo today. Thanks to everyone from Sun Diego to make this event happen!!

This Sun Diego store opened their doors today. The mall security and police got a bit nervous from the 200 kids that were waiting outside the store but everything worked out and they were stoked.

Brandon Westgate opens another pack of sharpies to work on his autograph skills

Alex, Louie, Darrell, Collin and Aaron lining up at the first autograph table

Rune Glifberg joined the Volcom crew and helped hand out a bunch of promo to all the kids at the store.

Louie Lopez has landed so many tricks on this tour, from tranny, to manuals to stairs, he's got it all. Here he landed a backside lipslide down the double set rail.

Brandon Westgate warms up with frontside 5-0's down the rail

Suski has many vans - this guy even put together his own Suski sign

Aaron Suski - 180 nosegrind or switch 5-0 - you name it

FRIDAY - 10.54PM - HEADING DOWN TO HOTEL IN CHULA VISTA

By the time we arrived at the skatepark the temperatures had gone down from an unhuman 188 degrees to a nice and skateable 90 degrees. Kids came running out of the desert bushes left and right when the colorful Volcom RV full of top riders pulled up at the skatepark. Despite the strong winds and little rocks everywhere inside the park, the team ripped the park for 2 hours until the lights got turned off. We'll post the photos of this skate session shortly.

We're in the RV right now. The drive to Chula Vista is about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Louie Lopez is sleeping all stretched out half on the couch and half hanging on the refrigerator while the rest of the crew is watching some movies.

The Volcom BBQ crew was grilling burgers and hotdogs for 2 hours at the Costa Mesa Skatepark and many hungry kids and parents looked happy after their feast meal.
