Kelly Slater defeated Mick Fanning in the finals of the Billabong Pro, at Jeffery's Bay, South Africa. Bruce and Mick started the day in perfect 4-6 foot, solid supertubes. Unfortunately, Bruce was edged out by Mick but its no big deal for Bruce, he is enjoying a stress free last year on the WCT.


Bruce had first heat this morning and it was an early one.

After a bit of a flat spell, J-Bay is once again pumping. Long walls and several barrels stretched down the reef throughout the day with a huge crowd out to enjoy the competition and the sun. Dean Morrison unfortunately suffered a round three loss to Jordy Smith Bruce however had a much better run, outperforming Aussie Dayyan Neve. Tomorrow Bruce is up against Mick Fanning. GO BRUCE!

Day one of the Billabong Pro at South Africa's J-Bay hit the water in almost perfect conditions. Four foot lines, peeled down the point all day long, as the stiff off-shore breeze provided clean play full lines and barrels. Both Bruce and Dean destroyed the line up, winning their heats and advancing the easy way through to round 3. Competition is expected to continue tomorrow with Round two. The conditions should be a touch smaller, but still consistent with a slight shift in swell direction. Well done boys!
