THE LAVA FISH
FAMARA PLAYA
LANZAROTE, CANARY ISLANDS

Our first event for the year and for the Canaries Islands on Sunday the 21st of March at Famara beach. With high winds we had to prepare the tent for non take off with the biggest of the Lava stones used for maximum support. With a total of 30 competitors bearing the desert storm and the 2-4ft onshore conditions we started the event.

The groms U/14’s had contestants aged 7 and one 9 years of age who had a special heat with themselves in the corner of Famara with them all tying for first place. Next were the rest of the heats leaving us the results of the final? Jordi Vidal Martin was the man on the day and took fist place followed by Sergio Lorenzo Diaz in second with Borja Padron in third and Mannuel Lascano rounding out the final in forth.

The junior division was strong with the results being close. First was Damian Moro with some nice strong moves on the lefts who was chased by Luis Hernandez in second with Hector Padron following in third and Ciro Lopez Gutierrez fourth.

The pro-am turned into an expression session to make the most of the tide with also a best trick up for grabs. Julian Cuello was strong enough to edge out a smooth Franito Saenz to take the win followed by Cristan Jimenez Garcia in third and local hero Jose Maria Cabrera took forth as well as the best trick with a solid powerful front side reverse on a nice left.
It was now time to take cover of the sand storm and have the presentation and bbq at the local community centre. This started with the results of the Lava Fish with presents and prizes for all the contestants.
