The Seaslug Surf Series attacks LA! Over 140 competitors showed up for the last Seaslug event of the 06/07 season. An incoming storm had been brewing for a few days and unleashed some fun 3-5 ft surf for the day of the event. Once again the kids showed up in full attack mode to grab those important VQS* qualifying points towards the VQS* Championship in May. It was a great day of surfing along some outrageous beach games for the kids to burn off some energy. Here are some highlight from the finals.

Girls! Girls! Girls! The girls division was the toughest competition yet. Holly Beck and Erica Hosseini looked good and came out firing on all cylinders, but misfired in the final. Local girl Natalie Anzivino and Jenny Quam also came in hot with some great first waves, but it was turbo charged Kyla Langen who took the victory along with a slimy Seaslug trophy, Sector 9 skate deck and back pack filled with other goods. Rounding out the final was Natalie Anzivino, Jenny Quam, Erica Hosseini, Holly Beck and Chelsea Rauhut.
The energetic Grom division took advantage of the fun surf and disturbing mayhem all day, but in the final it was down to business. The Malibu duo of Andrew Jacobson and Duke Van Patton showed a lot of style and power, however they couldn't get the high scores in the final. It was a three-man race between Dayton Silva, Conrad Carr, and Tyler Packham for the win. Dayton started off good, but was overmatched by Conrad and Tyler as it came down to the wire. Tyler needed one more solid score, but time ran out before he could find the wave he needed. Conrad took home another Seaslug win along with a Zoo York skate deck, Vestal watch and bag crammed full of other goods. Tyler Packham, Dayton Silva, Andrew Jacobson, Duke Van Patton and Leo Ferrera rounded out the final.

The top rated Seaslug Juniors came in ready to battle for first place bragging rights. Brent Bowen and Anthony Beukema were dominate in the early heats but with David Ruderman close behind they folded under the pressure and gave the top two Dustin Willman and Kyle Jax a shot at victory. It was a seesaw battle, but Dustin would be to much as he killed his last two waves to victory. He loaded up on an electrical guitar axe, H20 Audio ipod and a grip full of other goodies. Rounding out the final was Kyle Jax, Brent Bowen, Anthony Beukema, Josh Stone and David Ruderman.

"Money is everything," said Adam Virs as he prepared for the final. Pros from all over came down to try and snatch up the $500 cash. Ventura's finest, Chad Compton and Adam Virs looked the hungriest for the money, but would both come up short in the final. Shawn Burrell shellacked his first two waves to put him in the early lead, but he couldn't hold. Straight from a narrow defeat at Pipe, Matt King sucked up his jet lag and completely destroyed the final giving him the $500 cash, Vestal watch, a Santa Cruz skate deck.
