Volcom Stones Butterfish Surf Series Pipes, Ventura
Spring time is here! And mother nature sure did let us know that for the last Butterfish event of the season. With the contest being pushed back one day due to bad weather and flat surf, Sunday morning brought clean 2-3 ft surf in the am. Everyone was signed up and ready to go by 7am and we had a full day of competition ahead of us, but little did anticipate the hurricane like afternoon West winds that nearly blew everything off the beach. Highlight from the day, included Demi Boelsterli sweeping the Girls division for second win on the VQS Tour this season. Vinny Leonelli edged out Andrew Jacobsen in the Grom final to earn himself a heap of prizes including a kickass Volcom beach cruiser. In the Juniors division Matty Parker took his first win and earned himself a qualifying spot in the upcoming VQS World Champs. The Pro-Am final came down to a man on man battle between Kilian Garland and Bobby Morris. In the end it would be Bobby edging out Kilian by half a point for the win, a grip of prizes and $500 cash!
Spencer Regan locks into a Ventura gem.
Lots of fun and mayhem at the Buttefish events. Matt McCabe holds up his check for winning the Electric Volt Thrower move of the event, a pair of shades and $50 cash with a front side air reverse.
Dillion Perillo goes to town on runner in the cove.
Thanks to CHIPOTLE for keeping the competitors fed throughout the day!
Bobby Morris on his way to winning the Pro-Am final and $500 cash.
It was so windy in the afternoon, animals, children and women were almost swept down the beach!
Spencer Regan lays into another fun looking right hander.
Mike McCabe finished the day out in a respectable third place, earned himself a qualifying spot into the VQS World Champs.
