On Saturday Febuary 2nd the VQS had its last “HURRAH!!” at the LANE for the 2012/2013 Greatwhite Surf Series presented by MUSCLE MILK. With the end of the regular season only now 2 stops away, competitors were scrambling to get their points in before the VQS machine headed South! Shaun Burns showed his competition how to surf The LANE with smooth “in the pocket” snaps and clean rail surfing! The talk and highlight of the whole day though was the Groms division slugging it out in the final! Kei Kobiyashi thought he had the win in the bag with a perfect 10, but Jake Marshall had other plans though; throwing down a 9.5 and then back it up with a 8.5 with a combination score of 18 points out of 20! Congrats to Logan Banks who took home the ELECTRIC Volt Thrower award for a mental-inverted-hail Mary-no grab-tail high air reverse! Check out more of the days events below.
