VOLCOM STONE'S $10,000 MINI RAMP NUTSTRAVAGANZA
1/25/2005
Volcom Stone is proud to present the $10,000 Mini Ramp Nustravaganza. This is the first major pro mini ramp contest on U.S. soil in over a decade. Take a look at some photos from the high speed antics on the ramp.

The finals of the pro contest were absolutely nuts, no pun intended. There were 12 skaters battling it out for their share of the cash. The format went like this, each skater was given an introductory run, and then there was a 20 minute jam with everybody skating the ramp, and then everybody was given a last run. This provided for most action packed and high energy event I have ever witnessed in professional skateboarding. The jam was crazy. Since the ramp was 64 feet wide, it allowed for many people to skate the ramp at one time. There were always at least two guys on the ramp. Everybody was looking around while doing their tricks to make sure they wouldn’t run into anybody coming their way. There were several moments where near collisions happened, but luckily nothing serious occurred.

Up until the final runs, the contest was too close to call. Tony Froude, Mike Peterson, Kyle Berard, Anthony Furlong, Allan Mesquita, Chris Haslam, Dennis Busenitz, and Carlos de Andrade were all on fire in their own way. They, along with the other guys in the final had the crowd mesmerized during the entire final. There was too much going at once to catch it all. It was complete chaos to say the least. Carlos de Andrade sealed the deal on his final run. He did a huge ally-oop ollie to fakie, a massive madonna, a 360 flip to fakie, a backside bigspin revert, and more in the run. When he finally fell, after time, everybody knew he had won and the place was in an uproar. Needless to say, it was made official during the awards ceremony and Carlos was showered in beer by Remy and the rest of the Volcom crew.
