STOP #8 OF VOLCOM'S NORTH AMERICAN PBRJ TOUR
2/20/2013
Mountain Creek, staying Jersey strong for stop #8 of Volcom Stone’s Peanut Butter and Rail Jam tour Saturday, February 16th, 2013!

In this day and age, when one thinks of New Jersey, the last thing they are thinking about is snowboarding. Between warm weather and Snooki, one forgets there’s a little slice of heaven in the greater metropolitan area called Mountain Creek. The contest site consisted of a flat down square bar, close out handrail, and a down flat square rail. To say the riders were eager to show us what they had in store, would be an understatement.

The Riders' Meeting

The young guns in the 15 & Under division were up first and they weren't wasting any time. With Reid Smith’s back three on and Sam Perrelli gapping to the down of the flat down ledge, the crowd was at attention early in the heat. Mini shred Miles Fallon wasn't about to get pushed out of the spotlight. Straight charging every feature, pretty impressive, while standing waist high next to most people. By the end of the day, Jake Coleman answered back with the top spot, Reid Smith taking 2nd and Sam Perrelli picking up 3rd place.

Next up was the 16 & Over Division. Right out of the gate Bryan Watson was blasting front one to switch back three out of the flat down rail. The crowd got fired up. Showing the closeout rail who's boss, Tyler Mathes took it all the way to the end of closeout with a 270 out. With the trend of one footers never going out of style, you know people were pulling them out here and Stephen Cerra was here to show us his. Gapping the flat to the down with a one-foot indy got him Electric’s "Gooeyest Move Of The Event" and third place. JT Bingler picking up second, and Bryan Watson taking home first.

The ladies of the east coast were here in full effect and ready to show us what they had. Not wasting anytime, the girls got to it with switch lips, nose presses, and gapping out on the flat down. They were showing they could keep up with the guys no problem. All the ladies were on their game but it was young’in Alexa Cerra who took first, Ari Morrone not far behind in second, and Lily Calabrese finishing out the top three.

The Free Lunch Was A Spectacle As Usual

Last, but certainly not least, the Men’s Open Division was up. With some familiar faces coming back this year, it was sure to be a heavy heat. Coming in hot out of the gate with stale fish to back lips, method to front lips, back threes on, cab threes out, they were proving why they are the top guys. Kevin Kaczynski taking a liking to the down flat, and showing the judges some love with a front one in, cab three out. But the down flat wasn't the only one getting some action. At one point, gapping the the down of the flat down was a regular occurrence. Tom Weiss was one of those with a huge front blunt gap 270 out of the down, scoring him the top spot. Billy Keil was hot on the heels with an insane front lip all the way through the closeout to land him in second and Tim Major finished the day in third.
