Saturday March 1st was Globe's Slaughter at the Opera in a picturesque Sydney Harbor.
The scene was packed with tourists and screaming fans, all keen to get a glimpse of the
action that was going on below the steps leading up to the world famous opera house. The Volcom crew was rolling deep, Appleyard, Duncombe, Dollin, Sheckler, Stanton,
Dompierre, Woodsy, Fardell and Azar were all up in the mix.
The contest featured to replica rails in a row, 1 from El Segundo and the other from the
UCI Library. The victor would be crowned based on the best two trick line, either on
the rail or down the stairs.

Ryan, backside flip.
The session was intense, as everybody in the contest was on fire. There were two qualifying heats, that were narrowed down to a final 10. Sheckler qualified 1st, but during the finals suffered a concussion and had to pull out early. Dompierre and Appleyard also made the final. Mark was throwing down casual flip tricks down the big UCI replica set. Dompierre attacked the rail with a kickflip boardslide, kickflip backside 5050 as well as a noseblunt.
In the end, Greg Lutzka walked away in 1st followed closely by Adam Dyet. Dompierre ended up in 5th place and was hyped he earned enough cash to buy a new turbo for his BMW. All in all, the contest was a blast and everybody had fun.
