TODD BRATRUD PIN UP SHOW AT 126 LA BREA
3/10/2008
Last Friday night we hit the road for the Volcom Store at 126 La Brea Ave, where we were showing off Todd Bratrud’s Pin Up Art show, featuring support from Devon Green. This was the second of many shows in the upcoming months (the first was in Sydney, Australia – click here) and we were all exited to be getting out for a night amongst our friends in the city of angels.

We arrived right on time thanks to the superior driving skills of FNG Jared and walked into the store just as the crowd was gathering outside on the streets. Inside the store in the upstairs art loft were all 12 of Todd’s pin up girls – each one represents a different month for Todd’s pin up calendar, which was free along with a ton of other pieces of schwag laying around for everyone to scoop up and take home.

Downstairs there was a free bar in the front and outside on the patio where plenty of people were filling in and getting their drink on. In the front room, DJ Wade was keeping all the kids on their toes with some groovy background music before the bands took to making some noise. Up first was Tweak Bird, a local two-piece that you really have to see live to get the full experience. After belting out a few songs and setting the pace for the night, the store was getting full and people were spilling out both the front and back doors and around the bars.

Wade kept everyone happy with some tunes until the next band, San Diego’s, Earthless set up shop and poured themselves into one hour-long song that would be their entire set. At this point, the place was packed to the gills, it was getting late... the art was admired, the schwag was all snatched up, the bartenders were getting exhausted from tilting all the taps and the cops had even made their usual appearance and it was time to call it a night.

If you missed out on this one, there are six more shows around the world. Next stop… The Volcom Store in Sao Paulo, Brasil on Saturday, March 29th. Click here to check out the full schedule and make you sure check out a showing near you.

Also make sure you check out the Volcom Ent. Vinyl Club where you can get limited edition 7" vinyl of both Tweak Bird and Earthless, and many more...
