TOKYO, BRATRUD, DEVON AND THE TAMAGOTCHI EGG!!

1am, straight off an 11-hour flight over the Pacific, we all found ourselves sitting in the
Tokyo Studio of the respected BDK Tattoo artist and Volcom family member Horishow
Kanamesan. With an amazing epiphany on the flight over, Bratrud sat under the needle
getting a pink and green lizard scaled sacred heart “Tamagotchi egg”!!
For those of you who don’t know, this was a popular toy from Japan in the early 90’s with
a little Bratrud Kaname twist… Jet lagged and crisp, we all sat and were amazed at how
this trip was already starting, a perfect start for the week leading to the Lizard Girl art
show.
The week was rainy and wet, but the clouds cleared up for the day of the show and the
attendance was amazing. With only 600 private invites, over 1,000 people showed up at
the Volcom Harajuku store to view the amazing creations of Todd Bratrud and Devon
Green.
Bratrud was covered incognito style in a teal Volcom Hoody, and Devon with fresh self hair
cut, done up 1 hour earlier in the bathroom, The boys were on their game.... Within
minutes crowds surrounded with camera flashes and pens in hand for autographs. With
barely standing room only the night went long with flash after flash, autographs, booze
and skating on the stores mini ramp. Eventually the room was so overwhelming we had to
step outside for a periodic breather, Bratrud and Green troopers till the end. Surprisingly,
the street outside was just as crowded with the overflow of attendees smoking cigs and
propped up on fix gear bikes. Ahhhh, Sooooo Tokyo!!!
Once again, a successful gathering among 1,000 of Volcom closest friends. Thanks so
much to Shin, Iceman, OG and The Garden team, Bratrud, Devon, Daven, Satoshi, David
(number 4), Shingo, and most of all the amazing and wonderful Junkosan and the Tokyo
store family. Omedetou gozimasu (Congratulations on a successful event)!!!
