VOLCOM’S SPRING 2010 WINNING FEATURED ART PHOTO TEES 1/19/2010 |

Last Spring Volcom called all photographers, enthusiasts and anyone that could snap a
photo to enter a contest to have their photo on a Volcom featured artist phototee. We had
nearly 1500 entries of amazingly creative photos.
We picked three winning photos to be included in our Spring 2010 collection. See below
the winners and inspiration behind their photos.
Christopher Flach, “ My photographs are snapshots of a visual ‘hic-up’ between an artist
and a subject. Set against a backdrop of cultural frigidity and personal indebtedness…. As
a tee shirt they become living expressions for personal choice and social change.”
Andy Gottschalk, “My design is simply a streak of light of what looks like a rainbow. The
object is surprisingly an old CD. I knew I had to take the opportunity to capture the image
when seeing the light reflect into an array of colors. The design is very simple but also
very beautiful. I love how the photo looks almost like it’s from a dream.”
Katie Zychowski, “When I heard of the Volcom photo contest I knew instantly which
photograph I wanted to enter, but never imagined it would be selected. I chose a Polaroid
I had taken in the springtime of my best friend Alyssa’s feet. I remember that day so well
and for me it’s the perfect reminder of a beautiful spring day I shared with a friend.”
These winning phototees can be found in finer Volcom retailers everywhere.
