Toy Machine X Volcom Collab Party

This past Wednesday, June 11th, the bloodsucking skateboard company Toy Machine and Volcom came together to throw a party to launch our mind blowing collab with mutual rider Collin Provost! Among industry folk, team riders and the other 4,000 plus party goers in attendance we had the bands Fart Barf, Spindrift and Early Man providing us with some heavy jams. Pizzanista, The Viking Food Truck and Clara Cakes also came out to keep us fed and Red Room's Blake kept our thirst quenched with the free beer! Toy Machine's overlord Ed Templeton was also in attendance and had plenty of epic photos on display for party goers. Check out photos from the night below and a HUGE thanks to all that came out and help put the party together!

DIY Dreamcatcher
The night air can be filled with dreams, both good and bad, so filter out the bad ones with your very own dreamcatcher! This DIY was so simple we couldn't believe it! With a little patience, your hard work will be turned into a wall hanging so beautiful, your friends will all want one! What you need A wooden embroidery hoop (any size is fine, depending on how big or small you want it) A stick from outside (or you can buy some in bundles from Michaels) 30-40 feathers (try different colors for some added fun) Suede cord Waxed string Strong glue Scissors   Step 1. Grab your suede cord and start wrapping around your embroidery hoop. Every few inches, place a spot of glue to hold the cord in place in case the whole thing unravels and you have to start over. Better to be safe than sorry!   Step 2. Once the hoop is completely covered in suede cord, take your stick and put it at an angle. Attach the stick to the hoop and wrap both sides with wax cord. We found that the wax cord was very easy to work with and secured knots really well.   Step 3. Cut the wax cord into long pieces. Grab each feather and twist the wax cord around the end, securing tightly.   Step 4. Place the other end of the cord around the hoop and then around the stick. Repeat these steps until you've covered your hoop & stick with feathers.   Viola! You are now the proud owner of a gorgeous dreamcatcher! Now go to sleep and have sweet dreams. How simple was that? Psychic Migrations
Psychic Migrations: South America
Volcom Stone's latest feature surf film, Psychic Migrations, is set to release in September 2015 and we are unveiling some of the remote locations where the movie was filmed, along with a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip for you and a friend to the Global Premiere in Newport Beach, CA. on September 17, click here to enter. Ozzie Wright and Ryan Burch drifted to South America recently to film for Psychic Migrations and what they got was some uninhabited, ghostly waves. Predominantly left-hand point breaks, Ozzie and Burch thoroughly enjoyed these frontside sand-bottom playgrounds even with the water a little colder than they are used to. And like any odyssey, the most important step is the first one: location, location, location, and this place didn't disappoint. As Director Ryan Thomas puts it: "I was trying to focus on the landscape. That's where my head's at with this film. But when it comes down to it, it's a surf movie, and I think people will be pleased with the surfing in it." Ozzie Wright, somewhere in South Americas. Photo: Brian Bielmann Candid moment for Ozzie. Interview with Coco Ho
We had a chance to catch up with our surf rockstar, Coco Ho, and ask her some questions. Here's what our girl had to say... Which waves/ spots currently on tour best showcase a surfers potential? I think different waves/locations on tour show strengths and weaknesses for every individual, but it seems every year the divide gets smaller and smaller, every surfer on tour these days is so well rounded in all types of waves and locations. Is there a wave that better showcases women’s vs mens?  Men definitely shine in waves of consequence like Tahiti and Pipeline and the women have really been stepping it up and showing the world how good they are at waves like Snapper and Bells. I think having events together the women have learned a lot from the men's tour in regards to innovative and progressive surfing in heats. These days it's not uncommon to see women throwing down big combos and airs in heats.  Name the most impressive moment on tour that’s happened so far this year (mens or women’s)? To be honest the most impressive moment would have to be what happened in the final at J-Bay. Impressive to see that another competitor, in this case Julian Wilson, putting their own life in jeopardy to save another competitor. This showcased how deep all the men and women's friendships are on this tour. To be put in a situation like that and what their natural instincts were in that moment - that's true heroism and that to me is the most impressive moment in surf to date, period. What is one note/ word of encouragement or advice you give to every single person you work with?  "POSITIVE reinforcement” I really want to instil in every surfer I work with a very strong self belief in their ability, no matter what the conditions are like or what score they need. That trust needs to come from them being confident in their own decision making. Having good preparation and sticking to a solid routine will see you compete at your best….. Training, do you do it? Ratio of training to actual surfing?  Yes train the body and the mind.  The tour is gruelling and you need to stay on top of your health if you are going to succeed also eating heathy is a must. Actual surfing is the best training you can do, but to get the edge then you need to work hard whether it be full on gym sessions, Swimming, Yoga etc   …….. "hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard” Name three toughest waves on tour to wire?  The Box (Margaret River), Chopes ( Tahiti), Pipeline (Hawaii) The three most fierce women’s competitors on the tour right now?  Sally Fitzgibbons, Carissa Moore and Courtney Conlogue

Volcom at Visions Festival | London, England
This past Saturday Dustin Dollin, Ben Raemers, Harry Lintell, Eniz Fazliov and Lois Pendlebury spent some time in the UK at Visions Festival – a Real Life Happening spread across several venues in Hackney, London. Following on from two critically acclaimed and sold out years, the festival hosted a whole range of happenings from the East London Print Makers screening onto our shirts to the Fat White Family band, The Hinds and more playing killer shows in this third year sold out event making the whole thing a blast from start to finish. Volcom also took along our two prize winners who hung out with the crew for the day after winning Volcom Brand Jeans, travel, hotels, guest list tickets and plenty of beers. Matthew Rutherford -‐ Prize Winner: “Festival tickets, travel, hotel, jeans. I’ve been looking forward to the bands, the food and the beer. You can’t beat this can you, really?" The Fat White Family smashed through a killer set with their frontman Lias getting well amongst it all with the crowd. Our Finnish connection, Eniz Fazliov enjoying the Visions outdoor space… …With our Aussie connection Dustin. The Visions blimp flew high and mighty all day above the festival. Our contest winners Matt Rutherford and Joe Seager sank a few beers with Dustin and lurked heavily with us throughout the festival. Good times! Lois Pendlebury and Harry Lintell. A couple of teeth short. Dustin sees downtime, Lois sees playtime. No caption required Our pal and PR master, Leanne trying to work out what trouble Harry’s hijinks will land them in next. The party crew outside the Oval Space venue. Low key Raemers. Quietly fuelling the fire… Theres something out there. Claw Marks really, really know how to put on a show. Hanging from the rafters. Literally. London Fields in between shows. Dustin & Eniz take five… Always on. Dustin kept everyone entertained – especially our two new mates. The face of a man with a plan REDDOS! Stretching before hitting the next show. That’s some serious knowledge! Ben Raemers. Taxi service in full swing.
