Volcom's Pufferfish Surf Series makes its way to the Big Island!

#MusicMonday | FunFunFun Fest 2014 | Orange Stage

We're just 11 days away from the start of the 2014 Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, TX and the unveiling of the Volcom Super Collider ramp at the festival. For this week's Fun Fun Fun Fest edition of #MusicMonday we're focusing on the festival's Orange Stage. If you haven't read our #MusicMonday recommendations for the Black Stage and Blue Stage, you can check them out here and here, respectively. No one will fault you if you are not yet hip to Courtney Barnett. However, you may be chastised if you attend Fun Fun Fun Fest and sleep on her performance. She is a singer-songwriter from Australia that channels rock’s most glorious characteristics through her songs and left-handed guitar. We can think of at least one other left-handed guitarist (now deceased) that would no doubt approve. See Courtney Barnett on the Orange Stage at Fun Fun Fun Fest on Friday, November 7th. This one is simple guys... Go watch King Tuff rock and roll. The new album is a homage to classic rock with the kind of teeth that make great white sharks jealous. This is good time rock music delivered by a modern day craftsman who is compelled to keep it weird. King Tuff plays Fun Fun Fun Fest on the Orange Stage on Friday, November 7th. We've been fans of Dee Dee from the Dum Dum Girls since falling hard for her old band out of San Diego some years ago. Today we're still following Dee Dee and Dum Dum Girls who album after album turn out stylish, swoon-heavy dream rock. See Dum Dum Girls on the Orange Stage at Fun Fun Fun Fest on Saturday, November 8th.

VOLCOM X SKULLPHONE II FOOTWEAR COLLAB

Where the fresh ocean air meets the transient grit and oxidized metal of The Port of Los Angeles, artist Skullphone satirizes modern conveniece with playfully dark images. In the spirit of west coast urban sprawl, Volcom offers ‘The Skullphone II’, a limited edition design inspired by the colorful racket that is Los Angeles, as part of its Holiday 2014 collection. The army green swede upper pays homage to the stacks of shipping containers that line the L.A. horizon while the printed sole features Skullphone’s signature imprint hiding inside his visual interpretation of iconic port signage. Fragmented paint from his studio floor add the final organic texture to make ‘The Skullphone II’ a one-of –kind sleeper cell you have to have. Get Yourself A Pair Online Now!

Rune Glifberg, 2nd Place in The Berrics 'In Transition'

The Berrics held a contest where they picked 10 of the most progressive skaters on the planet to choose one location each—any location in the world—and film a full part. Volcom's very own Rune Glifberg and one of skateboardings newest pro's Ben Raemers were two of the chosen. Viewers of the videos were the deciding factor in the contest as they voted for the winner. Rune picked his hometown park in Copenhagen, Denmark while Ben picked a gnarly DIY spot in East London to film their parts. After voting closed it and votes were counted, Rune came out in 2nd place! You can watch both of their parts over at The Berrics by clicking the images below. Congrats again Rune! Ryan Burch… The Rush of the Continuous Rhythm

Ryan Burch puts the pedal to the metal on the walls of Bangko-Bangko and pulls into some heavy ones at Grajagan Bay after sharing a few thoughts on self-expression, how surfing and the asymmetrical boards he shapes fit into that, and what it is about being on a wave that excites him. #MusicMonday | FunFunFun Fest 2014 | Blue Stage

This week's edition of #MusicMonday focuses on the "Blue Stage" at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, TX. As mentioned in last week's edition of #MusicMonday when we highlighted our picks for the "Black Stage", Volcom is taking over the ramp at Fun Fun Fun Fest this year and in anticipation of us heading to Texas for the fest, we're taking the opportunity to shine a light on some of the newer and/or lesser known acts playing each stage at the festival that we think deserve your attention. El-P and Killer Mike are a hip-hop super power when they come together to form Run The Jewels. Their debut self-titled album from last year is still on blast regularly. This most recently released single featuring Zach de la Rocha has only ratcheted up anticipation for Run The Jewels 2 which comes out October 28th (t...the album it out now, grab the free download! - Ed.). Don’t sleep on it! Run The Jewels plays Fun Fun Fun Fest on the Blue Stage on Friday, November, 7th. We’d like to thank Freddie Gibbs and Madlib for collaborating with each other. Their album Piñata was released this year. It’s is a serious “album of the year” contender and is also an instant classic that only gets better with repeated listens. Have a listen to "Robes" featuring Earl Sweatshirt and Domo Genesis. Freddie Gibbs and Madlib perform at Fun Fun Fun Fest on the Blue Stage on Sunday, November 9th. In case you aren’t yet hip to Cities Aviv from Memphis, TN; be sure to check him out. Hip-hop fans with a taste for eclectic production might just discover their new favorite rapper. Cities Aviv play Fun Fun Fun Fest on the Blue Stage on Saturday, November 8th.
