This being our home mountain, Danny Koriath and Sean Keaden spent day one of a four-day shovel binge digging out a 12-foot by 7-foot grave in search of rails. With the fire started, day two saw the wheels of Seymour’s vigilante park crew be set in motion. Our squad grew to three (adding my self, Leroy Seymour) and ideas came spilling out as a result. With the terrain park masterminds also in attendance, Danny hopped into the cat’s “shotgun” position and started pushing snow around with reckless abandon! We had a vision for Seymour’s PBRJ setup, and were willing to put in some serious hours to see it come to fruition. Long after the hill was deserted by shreds and staff, we pressed on through the night fighting fatigue with determination and adult beverages. Content with our shoveling, shaving and piling progress, day two came to a close. Liam Ellicott blew in from Kamloops to join the operation as the team prepared for the third and most grueling night. Needing to complete the set up before sunrise, the crew rallied in the face of defeat and won the day with a bold offensive! “Vigilante victory is ours!” We yelled into the night sky! As it was after 2:30am, we called it a night and grabbed what little sleep we could to prepare for the onslaught which dawn would bring forth. The end result was; a six-foot launch to an elevated 12-foot flat rail, a 30 foot butter box shaped of snow to a 30 foot down rail and 12 foot up rail with a 6 foot gap to a 30 foot down rail. To top things off, a poll jam and tree bonk were encased in snow at the bottom of the site. These features would be the focus of an après $50 PBRJ best trick session.

Sat morning came quickly. Things got off to a breakneck pace at 10am with the 15 and Under Division. The groms charged the custom PBRJ site and made good use of the three perfectly sculpted features. Geoff Stinson picked up first for his on-snow wizardry and very smart looking back lips.

This evidently painted a clear picture in the minds of the 16 and over riders. Showing they had been taking notes, this group blew out of the starting gates with an intense ferocity that made their winning intentions clear. Blake Payne nose pressed his way across the zone one rail and grabbed first place along the way.

Up next was the girls Division. All the ladies were really aggressive and gave the guys a thing or two to think about. To name a few names, Caley Vanular was on fire and pulling off some seriously ballsy tricks! Some, such as a switch front board, was made even more impressive by the fact Caley has no balls at all. After all was said and jibbed, Jess Kimura took home first for her efforts. Having already qualified for the 2007 PBRJ Championships (Mammoth Mtn, May 19th) at Lake Louise the weekend prior, Jess donated her invite to the very deserving Charlotte Turndle (6th place)!

All of this jibber jabber brings us to the talent-laden Open Division. With cash and Championship invites on the line, two of the top guns; Brian Mclatchy and Matt Heneghan battled it out on the butter pad to “DWD” down rail. Hammers were witnessed to the tune of a very tech front board 450 as well as a back lip 270! Needless to say it was a bloody massacre that the rails of Mount Seymour won’t soon forget!

Thanks to Mount Seymour’s Andy Boniface and his able-bodied crew. These guys and girls are a big reason why Seymour is one of our favourite stops on the tour. Thanks also to Adam Mills and Sean Keading for judging as well as Barb Bishop for once again being our celebrity guest tabulator. Thanks to Danny Koriath, Liam Ellicott, Sean Keading for logging some serious hours to ensure Mount Seymour’s PBRJ setup was the best so far on the 0607 North American tour. Last but not least, thanks to Celtek gloves for supporting with prizes.
