|VOLCOM PBRJ EUROPE STOP#5 SLOVENIA
It happened again and it happened with a great success.
We are talking about the Volcom`s Peanut Butter and Rail Jam 2012 that happened on 8th February 2012 on Rogla, Slovenia.
Before the contest day, organizers had lots of problems with strong wind and extreme cold but on “the” day there were no clouds in the sky and no wind at all – perfect.
Lots of people came to compete and watch, and the shapers did a really good job with the setup, the Volcom staff from Obsession distribution was giving away free drinks and food all day.
If we go back to snowboarding we can say that qualifications were more or less only a training until the category of guys older than 16 and open category attacked the course. Some seriously good tricks went down, for example Backside 180 Switch Nosepress Cab 180 out on downrail by Erik Harc and Cab 180 Nosepress Backside 180 out on the same obstacle by Žiga Rakovec.
There was a polejam that lots of people used as a canon to launch big airs. Tim Korpar flew over really far and high with a massive frontside 360 mute, but the Electric Gooeyest move of the day went to Peter Štrafela with Nollie Hardway Backside 180 to 50-50 Cab 180 out on the downrail.
Kids under 15 and girls were ripping too. First 5 people in all 4 categories are gonna compete in Avoriaz, France on 31st March this year on European championship where the grand prize is 12.000€.
What else to say, it was simply perfect day. Everybody had fun and we all bet we are gonna see even more action in 2013.
Thanks to Rogla, the shapers and the judges, and also to ELECTRIC and NITRO for the sick prizes, and BURN for keeping everyone fueled at the contest.
