STOP #5 OF VOLCOM'S NORTH AMERICAN PEANUT BUTTER AND RAIL JAM TOUR
Stop number 5 of the 2005/06 Peanut Butter and Rail Jam tour went down this past Saturday at Washington’s Summit at Snoqualmie Resort.

On our drive up to the mountain, we talked about the bad hand of weather the area was dealt last year. If you recall, in the Spring of 2005 Summit was in the midst of a nasty mid-winter drought. The abundance of snow that the resort is accustomed to was definitely missing. Despite this, Krush and the Summit-at-Snoqualmie crew did the impossible and assembled an A+ contest site.

Cut to 2006: As we continued our drive, Seattle’s Spring-like weather had us wondering if we might be dealing with similar conditions again this year. Thankfully, any thoughts of this nature were quickly dashed. We arrived at the mountain Friday morning but couldn’t get a good look at the PBRJ site due to the monstrous 15-20 foot snow banks lining the sides of the road!

This year’s PBRJ site consisted of a 20 foot down rail situated between two large c-boxes.

Registration and practice went briskly Sat morning and the peanut butter and rail jamming commenced bright and early with the 15 and under division. With “DJ Digital Donkey” (a.k.a. Jamie Lynn) on the turntables, it didn’t take long for riders to dismantle the three features. Jordan Bell and Jared Schnider quickly set the bar and the field of riders rose to the occasion!

Two 16 and over heats quickly followed and made the difficult look easy. Right out of the gates, Ryan Mora, Zach Osterhuot and Jeff Gerorgeson were throwing down and showing they mean’t business!
The Girls jibbed onto the scene next. Their agressivness and style commanded the attention of the few hundred onlookers that were taking in the action. While not numbering many, the girls were clearly in it to win and battled hard!

The day rounded into form nicely with the Open division riders laying waste to the custom PBRJ site. “Donkey” a Baker Mtn local was firing with fellow riders Nick Jacobson and Markus Stephens hot on his heels! The crowd was huge as the open riders took no prisoners and wrapped up the contest on a great note.

Thanks to Summit-at-Snoqualmie for hosting another fun PBRJ. Krush and his park henchmen built and maintained an A+ site. Thanks also to Jamie Lynn for providing the sounds, signing snowboards, posing for photos and generally stoking everyone out. Last but not least, thanks to Lib Tech (snowboards/skate decks) and Electric (goggles) for supporting the cause with prizes.
