STOP #11 OF VOLCOM'S NORTH AMERICAN PBRJ TOUR
Unlike last year, the weather was on our side for the 11th stop of the 2010 North American PBRJ tour at Mont Avila Resort on Saturday, February 26th!

The competitors were fired up and eager to attack Mont Avila’s custom PBRJ contest site. It consisted of a flat box, an up-down box and a long down tower. Thanks to Alex St. Pierre and the park crew for all their efforts in preparation for this year’s event. Put down the poutine, it’s peanut butter jammy time!

Boardslide, zone 2

Once dusk was upon us, the 15 & under PB&J vampires came out to play. Like a pack of wolves, these young bucks set the jibbing benchmark for the rest of the event impressively high. Laying siege to the innocent features, we saw a half-cab to b/s 360 out, a smooth back tail and a f/s 180 switch nose press! On top of the podium was Justin De Castris in 1st, Marc-Andre Seguin taking 2nd and Dillon Charles-Ojo holding it down in 3rd!

Cutting through the snow with a f/s 270 to front board

The 16 & Over division spread it on thick! Apparently they had been watching the younger group because these guys wasted no time making their presence felt! All three zones were destroyed in short order and our judges had to “take a knee” to collect themselves. The three banditos to walk away with the loot after all was all said and done was Sean Thomson (1st), Nathan Ensing (2nd) and Nicolas Palfreeman (3rd)!

Front board, zone 3

The ladies were up next and somehow found a way to step things up a notch! Spectators were treated to consistent assaults on each feature. The girls laid down every trick with confidence and smoothness before riding into the night as if nothing had happened. At awards, it was Melissa Rodrigue taking 1st, Melisande Lefebvre in 2nd and Stephanie Renaud claiming 3rd place! Siiiiiiiiiiiiick!

Earning bonus points for ripping AND wearing his Team Canada jersey.

Much like when Team Canada hit the ice for the gold medal hockey game at the Olympics, the Open division busted on to the scene like a band of caged gorillas. The collective talent of this group was completely off the hook! King for the day and winner of the Open category was Alex Sarazin, closely followed by David Jacques in 2nd and Patrick Groulx in 3rd. The entire division left serious carnage in their wake!

The girls killed it! Front board, zone 1

Thanks again to the fine crew at MSS for making the PBRJ possible. High fives to Hughes Beauchamp for calling it on the mic as well as the event’s esteemed judging panel; Eric Gravenish, PL Hamel and JP Belanger. Thanks also to Christina Campbell and Julie Lachaine for all their help with registration, tabulation and being such gracious hosts during our visit to Quebec. As always, thanks to the PBRJ tour sponsors for helping stoke the competitors with extra prizing!
