The 15th stop on the 2010 North American Peanut Butter & Rail Jam tour went down at Brighton Resort on Saturday, March 27th!
Our visits to Brighton are always a salacious treat. In addition to some of the finest terrain we encounter on the North American PBRJ tour, it seems we continually run straight into flawless sunny weather. Couple those two variables with Utah hospitality and you’ve got more than enough reasons for repeat visits!
Here's just a little of Brighton's legendary terrain.
This year, Jared Winkler and his esteemed terrain park technicians went above and beyond putting together the custom PBRJ setup. Traditionally the Brighton PBRJ features a skate-style setup but this time the boys decided to go in a different direction. Zone 1 consisted of a large pyramid affectionately named the “X box” while zone 2 was a barrel jib to down rail and zone 3 was a flat-tube gap to down-box. After the competitors felt it out for a few minute, the gloves were off and the game was afoot!

The 15 & Under Division once again had the honor and privilege of kicking things off! They burst forth from the gates like a pack of rabid greyhounds! Jeremy Thornburg and Grant Giller were in the first heat and were foaming at the mouth to get started! Hammers came fast and furious as riders began gapping to the down-box in zone 3! After the numbers were punched into our tabulating supercomputer, Noah Sutton landed in 1st, Dillon Guenther 2nd and Grant Giller 3rd!

The 16 & Over Division was up next and cut to the chase in a hurry! They obviously had been taking notes as the younger riders were in attack mode because they took things to the next level! We were privy to witnessing switch back lips, f/s 270 to front boards and a few nollie hardway 180 to switch 50-50s! Three stood atop the podium after the anarchy had concluded. Rising above the rest was Jordan Morse in 1st, Griffing Siebert claimed 2nd and Christiian Hobush rounded out the top 3!
The barrel jib in zone 2 inspired creativity. Here's one of the finer hand plants we saw
The Girl’s Open division had the unenviable task of following in the wake of all that had come before. Thankfully these girls weren’t the following type and instead chose to blaze their own trail! Despite not numbering many, they rode like an army! Switch 50-50s, front boards and even a half-cab b/s 270 to boardslide in zone 3! Later on at awards, it was Wiki Jones prevailing in 1st, Kendal Elliott in 2nd and Lejawn Allen, 3rd!

The Men’s Open Division was up last and wasted no time placing a large exclamation mark on the day’s riding! With notable shreds such as Brandon Hobush, Cole Linzmeyer and Ozzy Henning in attendance, we knew a show would be forthcoming. After a few short minutes it was clear neither myself (Jeff Arnold) nor anyone else on the scene would be disappointed! Hammers were pulled out of tool belts with seldom-seen regularity! Do yourself a favor and check the video (link above)! After the snow settled Brandon Hobush emerged victorious with Ozzy Henning and Everest Arnold in 2nd and 3rd respectively!
The montrous "X-Box" in zone 1 spawned a variety of impressive tricks
Thanks to Jared Winkler, Mouse, Ted, Brandon, Helen, Marty, Ben and the rest of the upstanding people at Brighton for their tireless PBRJ toil. All the hard work was noted and duly appreciated! Thanks to Marty Siller, Jon Spiris and Jun Kwak for judging and Utah for once again coming through with impeccable weather. Of course, thanks also to all of the PBRJ tour sponsors below for kicking in a bunch of extra gear for the winners!
