Last Saturday saw the UK leg of Wild in the Parks hit Mansfield Skate Plaza.

The park itself is a ton of low impact ledges and banks with plenty of locals who shred the place.

We got up to Mansfield the day before the event and the sun was shining – as was meant to be all weekend. However, come Saturday it all rolled back a season. Luckily, it stayed dry – but temperatures plummeted and the wind really kicked off.

Aaron Sweeney - FS Air

In a truly British style, we didn’t let it get to us. The BBQ helped us to forge the idea of a hot summers day in our heads!

The cold snap didn’t seem to harm the session either as insane stuff was being put down during and in between heats. The finals for each session really seemed to step up from the heats. No-one knew where it came from, but all of a sudden the kids were throwing down like never before!

Doug from Gentlemans Pistols. Backside Air

It all built up to the Pro/Am session which blew the roof off (well, it would have. Had we have had a roof). Joe Lynskey balanced his way through long nollie nosegrind reverts. Jimmy Boyes skated at twice the speed of everyone else. Craig Smedley laid down consistent tricks all over after sleeping in his car all afternoon. Josh Young did his thing – keeping it super smooth and Harry Lintell locked into the longest grinds and slides he could. Check the video out to witness!
