Last week we took a road trip with the crew down to Uckfield in southern England to fire up for Wild in the Parks.
Nick Stansfield, Harry Lintell and Gav Coughlan were all in the van as we headed down for a pre-event session on the Friday. Glorious sunshine and friendly locals welcomed us into their park for a shred.
After a good meal (With terrible service) down the road, we retreated to our hotel, keen for the Wild in the Parks the next day. However, it very nearly didnt happen.
The rain came during the night and hammered down hard, with flash floods appearing overnight. We decided to brave the park and hope for the best only to arrive to the place mostly being under a foot of water.
Testament to the power of people working together, we grabbed brooms, buckets and bottles or anything else which could help and cleared the water within a couple of hours. Locals pitched in and helped get the word out the Wild in the Parks was most certainly firing up to start.
We had folks down from Derby, Birmingham, Manchester and also coming up from Brighton and elsewhere in the south. Gav, Harry and Nick took on the judging duties for the day kids were stoked to have these guys marking down scores for them and harassed them for photos and autographs all day long.
The Police hung out and were happy to see some shredding along with the parents and friends on the sidelines screaming, shouting and at times Mexican Waving.
After a BBQ lunch provided by Monster and at the end of two pretty heavy finals, the right people walked away with first place Rupert and Marley killed it in their categories ripping their way through tricks in each of the three areas.
Check out the video for all of the stunts at Uckfield and also, a little peek into a few of the lines Gav, Nick and Harry laid down in the pre-event session.
Thanks to ELECTRIC, Monster Energy, Ben Powell at Sidewalk for his MCing skills, Morph for filming and editing, Adam Pau and Ben Wilks for running around all day helping make this happen and to Uckfield Town Council and the local Police for letting us get involved with the scene at the park down there.
