Office Style: Meet Isabel

MEET ISABEL IN THE LATEST EDITION OF OUR SEMI-REGULAR SERIES “OFFICE STYLE” WHERE WE TALK WITH VOLCOM EMPLOYEES ABOUT THEIR PERSONAL STYLE, FASHION INFLUENCES, AND WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK AT VOLCOM!

What is your job title at Volcom, and what’s your favorite thing about working there?

ISABEL: I am the Global Women’s Product Development Manager for wovens, denim, and jackets. My favorite part of the job would be all the different people I get to work with: the vendors in China, India, and Mexico, our fit techs, our fit model, the designers, the other developers, our merchandisers... I’m lucky to get such a broad span of people to collaborate with!

KEEP IT FLY LONG SLEEVE TOP

This fitted crop top has a mock neck and extra long sleeves with placement print on mesh, and a metal plate at the back neck.

*Available in two colorways

How long have you been with Volcom, and what have you learned from your job?

ISABEL: I’ve been with Volcom coming up on three years already, and I’ve learned too many things! I think the most valuable thing I’ve learned is to properly e-mail and how to keep up and execute quality work in a very fast-paced work environment. We have changes every day, hour, even minute! So, I’ve learned how to really stay on top of it.

FUREALS COAT

Yep, you found it. That faux, fur coat that gives you that look of glam you’ve been looking for. The leopard print Fureals Coat also has a printed pink satin lining for that extra layer of fashion.

How would you describe your personal style? Who are your biggest fashion influences?

ISABEL: My personal style is dressed-down girly. I like girly style, but not too girly, so I tone it down with sneakers or oversized sweaters and t-shirts to make it a little more day-to-day and relaxed. It’s easy to transition these looks from work to weekend! I’m lucky to work in a place where I can use my clothes to express myself :) no dress code! My biggest fashion influences are INSTAGRAM BLOGGERS... a million of them. I hate to admit it, but darn it if they don’t have the cutest clothes and style. When I went off Instagram for a few months I was so lost fashion-wise without them, pathetic!

HIGH RISE LADY JEANS

The High Rise Lady Jean is a modern denim look with a high rise fit and a cropped length.

*Available in two colorways

Where do you live and is there good shopping near you? If so, care to share your go-tos?!

ISABEL: I live in deep Costa Mesa right next to South Coast Plaza, so yes, there is great shopping near me, a little too much! Someone take my credit cards away!

What are your favorite pieces from the current Volcom Women’s line?

ISABEL: I LOVE our Fureals Coat. It goes with everything and is really warm! All my friends say I look fierce and sassy when I wear it, so that’s always good ;) Our Blingtang Skirt is another favorite because you can dress it up or down and it’s stretchy, so it’s comfortable and moves with you and is a perfect length. Our Go Go Wrap is a staple for me because I like to throw it over t-shirts or bralettes with jeans, skirts, shorts... it’s perfect for the office because it’s always cold in there, so I like to bring that to keep me warm. The Keep It Fly Long Sleeve Top is one of my favorites (it comes in a cute dress, too!), the print is so bold and I always get a ton of compliments when I wear it. Perfect for work or concerts! Our High Rise Lady Jeans is KILLING IT!! It’s my favorite pair of jeans at the moment... I’m not just biased! They’re stretchy, but keep their shape, so I don’t have to wash them all the time and they’re high rise, so I can wear my crop tops through our California winter :)

BLINGTANG SKIRT

Make a style bang in the Blingtang Skirt. This fitted mini hugs your curves and is fully lined.

How does your job influence your personal style?

ISABEL: I get lots of outfit inspo from our designers’ sketches. Since we start developing a year in advance, I get to see what’s up and coming for the next year and I have a fun time finding those things and wearing them early – it feels like a sneak peek to the future! I also get a lot of influence from our design director, Kelly, and how she styles our photoshoots. She’s so on it and has really changed the game for us :)

Do you have any styling tips?

ISABEL: Hmmm... wear what makes you comfortable :) sounds cliché, but sometimes I try trends and when I look in the mirror I feel like I’m playing dress up or look really bizarre and I get insecure about it and self conscious. I always try to buy things that are on-trend, but really represent who I am and make me feel comfortable and proud to be me!! Just because it’s on trend doesn’t mean I need it... you don’t need it, Isabel!!! (daily pep talk to stop buying clothes) :)
