Epic Day At Lower Trestles For The 2017 Cobblestone Classic!

That’s a wrap for the 2017 Cobblestone Classic held at Lower Trestles, and what a day it was! The surf industry came together on June 16 for this unique, one-day competition to battle it out for bragging rights, good vibes, and to benefit the California State Parks. The team format comprising of professional athletes, brand employees, and amateurs, kicked off at 8am with slow, but clean conditions in the 2-3ft range. As the teams surfed through their Round 1 heats, the conditions improved as the tide filled in and waves increased while we saw some heavy professional surfers drop some huge scores. Dane Reynolds ripped through a two-turn Lowers right for a perfect 10, while other professionals (e.g., Kolohe Andino, Alex Gray, Nathaniel Curren, Nate Yeomans) as well as amateurs and employees, bagged high 8s and 9s, earning their team enough points to make it through to the later rounds.

Congratulations to team …LOST for taking top honors, rightfully claiming some bragging rights, and for ripping through the entire event! Shout out also goes to Red Bull for placing 2nd, Channel Islands for placing 3rd, and Stance for placing 4th. Excellent surfing all around!

Special thanks to SURFER and event partners, all competing brands and surfers for coming down for the event, California State Parks, Banzai Bowls and Sustainable Surf for deeming this event an ocean-friendly Deep Blue Event™!
