Week 17: Part Time "Que Vida" | Volcom Cyber Singles Club

Burger Records x Volcom present Cyber Singles Club: Part Time "Que Vida"

Part Time was created by the band's mastermind, David Speck, in 2009. Already a veteran of bands in Austin and Oakland, David explains that Part Time was formed "simply by the grace of its substance."

Since then, Part Time has released a string of full-length albums on several different labels starting with the 2009 self-titled release on Voice Academy Records, followed by two albums for Mexican Summer, What Would You Say? and PDA. They made their Burger Records debut in 2014 with Late Night with David Loca followed by Return To Cherry on Mother of Pearl. The last Part Time album, Virgos Maze, was released by Burger in 2015. "Burger Records is great," says David. "They believe in artists' dreams, which in turn realizes their own."

Over the years, Part Time has seen several lineup changes. The "Regular Part Time Joes," as David describes it, "these days include: guitarist and keyboardist Billy Trujillo, bass barbarian Tony Leal, and our dear friend, the original atomic blonde on vocals, Kristin Caballero." Together, this group brings us a unique take on a '60s classic. As David puts it, "simply a silly punky / new wave cover of a song by Arthur Lee's 'Love' off of the Da Capo album."
