Announcing the 2018 Volcom Pipe Pro Contest Running January 29 - February 10
The World's Best Surfers Return to the Legendary Banzai Pipeline
Volcom is pleased to announce the 2018 Volcom Pipe Pro surf competition held at the world-famous Banzai Pipeline on the beautiful North Shore of Oahu. The event will run from January 29 to February 10, providing a lengthy 13-day window in order to run the competition in the most optimal conditions. The competitor’s field will consist of 144 of the top surfers from across the globe who will battle it out at one of the best, yet scariest waves on the planet for a chance to be crowned a Volcom Pipe Pro Champion – a prestigious honor sought after by countless surfers.
This World Surf League Qualifying Series (QS) 3,000 competition represents a hefty opportunity for both local and international surfers to gain points and a share of the $75,000 prize purse. Known as one of the most watched events of the season, nearly three-quarters of a million people tuned in for the 2017 live webcast, and for good reason. With a consistent record of serving up some of the biggest names in surfing, and delivering some of the largest swells, most terrifying wipeouts, and incredible jaw-dropping barrels of the entire season, it’s no wonder why people look forward to watching the Volcom Pipe Pro year after year.
The 2018 Volcom Pipe Pro Collection will feature art by Mike Parillo, whose connection to Volcom goes all the way back to the formative, tribal years of the Stone. Respected as one of the leading artistic visionaries in the action sports industry with over two decades of credible work to his name, Parillo has created art that is inspired by the home of the Volcom Pipe Pro. The collection features a boardshort, a handful of t-shirts, a hoodie, and a hat, and is available at online at volcom.com and in our retail stores in Hawaii.
2018 will mark the ninth consecutive year which Volcom has presented this high-profile, high-stakes surf competition, but event efforts don't stop there. Along with being recognized by the WSL as a clean and ocean-friendly event, the Volcom Pipe Pro is certified as a Deep Blue Event for the sixth year by Sustainable Surf, a certification that sets the standard for sustainability and minimizing environmental impact. The event also contributes generous donations to the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii, Live Like Sion, and various Hawaii give-back programs. It is these efforts, coupled with the amazing field of talent and unquestionable world-class waves, which make the Volcom Pipe Pro different than any other event on tour. In 2018, dreams will be realized and aspirations will be crushed, and we hope you're ready to experience another year of non-stop action!
