Volcom helps to expand the ASR trade show's recycling efforts through their Green Steps initiative. And in future years participating in the ASEC Green Room at the ASR trade show.


Volcom’s Compliance Program is created; product testing begins as does the annual Internal Compliance Summit.
2008
Volcom becomes a member of 1% For The Planet and remains one until 2012.


2009

Give Jeans A Chance, a denim donation drive, launches and later expands globally.



The inaugural Volcom Pipe Pro surf contest happens, striving from the onset to create an event that was Sustainable By Design.
2010
Volcom Give Back Series Launches
Volcom participates early in the Eco-Index initiative (now known as the Higg Index).


Volcom's compliance program rechristened as P.A.S.S. (Product & Social Safety).
New Role, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, is hired and the first in-house Environmental Report is completed.




2011
Volcom is acquired by Kering, marking the beginning of our global commitment to sustainability.

Our Mission statement is updated to include Sustainability.

Textile Exchange’s Preferred Fiber & Materials Report - Volcom ranked #3 in the Organic Cotton Growth Leaders Board & #7 in the rPET LeadersBoard! Our use of organic cotton grew 40% year over year, and our blend of recycled polyester to virgin polyester was 7%.
2016
Volcom Pipe Houses go solar!


First surf brand to use Econyl® regenerated nylon in our swimwear.
First sustainability report card (progress on 2013 commitments).


Textile Exchange’s Preferred Fiber & Materials Report - Volcom is ranked in the top 10% (number 10) by Growth on the Recycled Polyester Leaderboard, with the amount of recycled content in our total product mix up nearly 42% compared to last year (now nearly 12% of the mix). This is out of a record 94 participating companies (compared to 89 companies reporting the previous year).
2017
100% of the Down used in Volcom products is certified to the RDS standard.


Volcom’s supply chain fully accredited by the Fair Labor Association.
2018
Volcom receives 1st Champions of Sustainability award from Repreve®, a recognition for transforming 10 million or more recycled plastic bottles through the use of Repreve's recycled fibers.


Volcom receives Champions of Sustainability award from Repreve®, 25+ Million plastic bottled used.
2019
Increased the mix of our fiber sources by introducing hemp and a greater amount of organic cotton into the line. Also reduced the use of water in our production processes.


Introduced Bloom™ flexible foam made from algae biomass into the topsoles of our sandals.
2020


Volcom surpasses 64 million recycled plastic bottles through the use of Repreve's recycled fibers in our products.
2021
In 2021, we completed a wage analysis on 21% of our suppliers, shy of our goal of 30% due to impacts of Covid-19. In 2022 our goal is to complete the wage analysis for an additional 25% of our factories and will continue the process with urgency until all factories are complete.


Introduced Greenlon® recycled nylon from pre-consumer, post-industrial materials into select Women's Swim products.
