Talk about the inspiration behind the designs in the collection

OZZIE: I get pretty inspired by the natural beauty of the world. Being lucky enough to surf every day makes me appreciate the cosmic wonder of earth and the magic of the universe. The infinite space all around us, so much nothingness in every direction, yet here we are all on Earth together able to communicate complexities to one another and love each other and ride surfboards through tubes with friends and strangers. Life is a miracle.

What do you like about creating product with Volcom?

OZZIE: It’s been such a great company for me to be involved with since day one. I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be with the multi-talented people involved all around the world, and everyone knew it was a special group to be a part of and that is and has always been inspiring.

What is your favorite piece in the collection and why?

OZZIE: The Love Tee which is the alien love heart guy because I like the message and I think if we could all be more loving and accepting and caring and less greedy we would be in a better place. I also like the Less Bots Tee as robotics and that just the whole technical revolution is wiping out so much of our natural world it’s so sad and scary, and people have to wise up and save our planet before it’s too late.

Describe yourself as an artist. How is art, music and surfing all connected for you?

OZZIE: It’s a way of life. To me, as a kid, it was obvious that surfing was so much more than just a sport. It’s an amazing spiritual tribe with a lot of culture, and art and music are a big part of it. My parents were surfers and creative people and I just grew up doing what I do. Now, I get to share it all with my kids and it’s a lot of fun.
