Want to spice up an old white pair of socks or t-shirt with a natural tie-dye? We got you covered with our turmeric tie-dye how-to. Follow a few easy steps to get a tie-dye that is made with a household kitchen essential that is probably in your spice drawer.
- White Socks and/or white shirt
- 4 tablespoons of Turmeric
- Large Pot
Soak your socks and t-shirt in a bowl of cold water.
Ring out the water after you have fully soaked your socks and t-shirt.
Fold or spiral your socks and shirt then use your rubber bands to tightly wrap around to create a design.
Add 3-4 tablespoons of turmeric to a large pot filled with water.
Let your pot simmer for 30 minutes.
Add in your socks and shirt.
Let them soak for 30 minutes to an hour (or until satisfied with the color) while stirring it with a plastic utensil (wooden utensils will stain) every 15 minutes.
Once you are satisfied with the color, take them out of the pot and rinse them with cold water until the water runs clear.
Ring out the socks and shirt, and take off the rubber bands.
